
The Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, on Monday, 18/04/2016 reopened for academic activities after a break following students’ protest over the alleged killing of a student by a commercial motorcyclist.
It will be recalled that Kogi State Polytechnic was temporarily shut down In the bid to manage the crisis involving students of Kogi State Polytechnic and the commercial motorcyclists popularly called ‘Okada’ in the Lokoja metropolis.
During the protest, all vehicular movement on the Lokoja-Abuja road was disrupted as the students in their hundreds took over the road, burning tyres, in protest of the death of their colleague. It took the intervention of armed mobile policemen to bring the situation under control
